ARTIVISM AND STTP
This Lesson Plan has been developed as a final project for Speak Truth to Power Course. These activities intent students become "Artivists". When people are creative and aim to improve our environment using art as
a tool, we can say they are combining "art" and "activism".
"I a am forest" will be carried out and shared between the Tutoring and Art classes, with a total of five class periods and a final presentation (two class periods in the Tutorship and three class periods in the Art Class).
OBJECTIVES:
After this lesson, students will be able to:

• Evaluate and apply vocabulary words to facilitate generalization and
comprehension of Wangari Maathai’s human rights work.
• Produce an original CAMPAIGN focused on the concepts of deforestation and
its negative global impact.
• Listen, speak, and advocate about the environmental work implemented by
Wangari Maathai.
• Create something new from something recycled.
• Understand the power of Art as a tool for Social Transformation.
