TUTORING CLASS

DAY 1  

Activity 1: Distribute to the students the lyrics to the song “Paper and Ink” by Tracy Chapman. Have students listen to the song while they follow along with the lyrics. (10 MIN).
Activity 2: After listening to the song, conduct a classroom discussion using the following questions: (15MIN)
• How many sheets of paper do you think you use in one day?
• How many sheets of paper do you think your school uses in one day?
• In one week? A year?
• Who owns the sun?
• Who owns the sea?

Activity 3: Students watch the video clip “Dear Future Generations: Sorry” by Prince Ea.



Each student will write a sentence to apology future generation. Gathering all the sentences we will create an Apology Letter to Future Generations to hang on the class wall. (20MIN)

DAY 2 

Activity 1: Working in teams of three, students read the interview of Wangari Maathai and answer some questions. (20MIN)
  • What are the goals and purpose of the Green Belt Movement?
  • How is Wangari Maathai a courageous person?
  • How does deforestation affect my life and the lives of all human beings?
Activity 2: Students share answers in a class discussion and then watch a video entitled “Wangari Maathai and the Green Belt Movement".


Activity 3: Students discuss answers to questions and the video. (30MIN)
